For the first time in CHIII’s program we invite the artists Sanara Rocha, Anelena Toku and Thayná Oliveira to participate of an artistic residency during the festival with the result of a performance on the closing day of it. During 5 days, from July 31th to August 4th, the musicians in residency have the opportunity of concentrate in their creative process, experimenting musical new freshness and developing an unpublished piece to the festival.

Anelena Toku

ANELENA TOKU is a multidisciplinary artist and is interested in the study of nature that treats it not as an object or landscape but as a presence. Since 2015 she is part of the duo Fronte Violeta together with Carla Boregas.

Sanara Rocha

Sanara Rocha, also known as Mulher Tambor, is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher based in Bahia. In the field of sound arts, she has focused on electronic pedals experimentation in order to mixing percussive timbres with her voice and to write narratives through the sound.

Thayná Oliveira

Thayná Oliveira is an artist from São Paulo. She is a music therapist, an art therapist, and an art educator. Nowadays, her interests are related to research ancient technologies encoded in Adinkra symbols, and she also uses the sound as a translator of bodily and subjective experiences.
