PERFORMANCE OF THE WORKSHOP

Improvisation with winds and vocals

The proposal of the workshop is to reunite practices and strategies to free improvisation on winds and vocals based the artistic researches of the improvisers Romulo Alexis (trumpet) and Inés Terra (vocals). At the end of the experience there will be a performance. At the vocals meeting different types of vocal emission will be researched, deepening the listening of the body and the knowledge of the vocal treat, transiting between the harmonic and the noisy. At the winds meeting we will develop a deepening in listening processes and collective interaction researching timber nuances and non-convenctional techniques on the instruments. At the winds and vocals meeting improvisation exercises will be proposed in different formations with emphasis on the listening, on the sound space and on the ensemble between the instruments possibilities. After we have explored different sonorities and expressive dynamics, we will present paths to a collective creation in real time.

Inés Terra

Inés Terra is a vocal improviser and producer. She researches the power of the voice in search of the multiple resonances and noises of the body. She created the vocal performance series Língua Fora. She released the audiovisual album Ruminar with Iago Mati and the album Teia with Julia Teles.

Romulo Alexis

(De)composer musician, improviser, cultural producer, educator, author of video art and experimental movies. Since 2008 researches musical creation in real-time and multi-disciplinary processes in art. Has collaborated with more than 250 artists internationally.
