Arquitextura Sonora
a conducted improvisation
This workshop is open to singers and musicians of all calibers/levels. It does not require knowing how to read music, nor how to improvise within chord structures. We will be exploring textures, non-musical sounds as well as harmonious ones, layering of rhythms and more. All instruments are welcome: strings, brass, percussions, winds, vocals… will blend (or not) to create an orchestral sound.
In the first half of the workshop, I will teach all participants the signs I will be using to conduct. They are visual signs allowing me to determine who is playing, what type of musical material, when to start and stop playing.
In the second half of the workshop, I will conduct an improvised piece, reacting to the sound propositions of the participants. We will create a playful evocative work, “a cinema for the ears“.
Each musician brings his or her instrument (with amplifier if needed)
Singers can bring a microphone.
