In partnership with Pequenas Sessões, Quartas de Improviso (Seminal Records), and the CHIII festival, we present the duos Diane Labrosse (CA) + Patrícia Bizzotto, followed by Charlotte Hug (CL) and Luiz Pretti.
Diane Labrosse (CA)
Working mainly with electronic samplers, Diane Labrosse has a very personal approach to sounds, exploring textures and timbres and creating an abstract evocative music. She is a regular on several music scenes and has performed in many festivals of electronic and improvised music around the world.
Patrícia Bizzotto
Patrícia Bizzotto (Belo Horizonte/MG) researches and works with sound composition for dance and theater, cinema, free improvisation, and hybrid artistic situations involving performance, space, visual arts, direction, chance, and group dynamics. Since 2022, Patrícia Bizzotto has been one of the three resident artists of “QI- Quartas de Improviso”—a unique project in the experimental art scene of Belo Horizonte and Brazil—where she can enjoy her freedom as a restless and multifaceted artist.
Quartas de Improviso, or QI, has been held in Belo Horizonte since 2013, with 180 events and 16 seasons so far (seasons 11-16 supported by the municipal culture incentive law). QIs are performance-events where experimental music by residents occasionally interacts with guests from various artistic and even non-artistic fields: from dance to video, rap to yoga classes, lectures, and manicures. They have been held in various spaces, including Teatro Espanca!, Galeria Mama/Cadela, La Gruta, recently also at the Centro de Referência das Juventudes, the Música Quente producer’s office, and Impressões de Minas. Since season 15 in 2022, Patrícia Bizzotto, Marco Scarassatti, and Henrique Iwao have been resident musicians, also acting as curators of the event and forming the Trio QI.
Pequenas Sessões is a festival that has been held since 2008 in the city of Belo Horizonte. Its proposal is to conduct artistic exchanges.
